Grenache is the warm climate analog to Pinot noir. Lighter in color and tannins, difficult to grow, susceptible to disease, absolutely stunning when grown in the right environment and vinted by craftspeople with a light touch. I knew that if we were to do this The Rocks were the one place that would be compelling enough for us to put our collective efforts 100% into the project. The wine tastes like the rocks and funk of where it’s grown and is obviously made with the light hand of a Pinot noir winemaker. It’s delicious and compelling and has something to say. The Rocks Grenache is a natural extension of the Flavorscape. A way for me to kind of close a loop that started out by riding in those old 1970’s Ford pickups during the summers of my childhood.
Open fruit with some tightness of tannins up front, unfurls silkily across the mid palate with filigreed cherries and plumb. Squares upward and across while tightening up on a long structured red fruit and matcha finish
